Are you ready to explore natural light and feel inspired to create new work?
If you want to harness natural light, enhance your work and leave buzzing with ideas, then this workshop is for you.
The Natural Light Workshop:
Are you relatively new to photography and would like to gain a greater understanding of working with natural light?
Do you currently shoot with studio lights but would like to explore natural light with intention?
Are you feeling a little lacklustre in your business and longing for an inspiring experience to give you a creative boost?
This workshop has been created
Let yourself commit, and feel confident in:
Manipulating natural light. Learn how to use "available light" regardless of the weather, to create images that are beautiful and consistent.
Understanding technical side of natural light so it becomes second nature, and you can focus on storytelling and connection with your clients.
Using light placement to create mood. Learn how to create bright, soft and ethereal images, but also how to embrace more sculptural, shadowy work.
Having a portfolio that inspires you and your clients. Work in real-time and practice under my direct guidance, to ensure you leave with a portfolio you’re proud of.
Ready to step up?
Stop being afraid of cloudy days or harsh midday sun
A look at what we’ll get up to on the day:
Coffee & Welcome
Let’s set intentions for the day
I want to hear a little bit about you, your business and the main reason you joined the workshop - I really want to understand how I can best serve you during your time with me.
101 of
Natural Light
We will take things back to basics and start from the ground up - exploring technical photography terms, making them digestible and helping you to understand the foundations.
Using light modifiers
We’re going to get stuck in, exploring ways to control natural light using modifiers, in real time, with a real model. This is where it gets fun and the practical shooting starts.
Signature looks
After we’ve had a chance to put all that practical work into action, I will show you some signature looks that you can take home and practice at home. I want you to leave feeling and inspired and raring to go with some creative projects!
No growth in the comfort zone
Be confident stepping through into a new space armed with knowledge & experience
This is for you if:
You want to feel empowered & educated when you pick up your camera, knowing you’re producing your best work.
You ‘re relatively new to photography and want to arm yourself with as much knowledge as possible.
You’re looking for inspiration to take home and use with your own clients, to elevate your current work to a whole new level.
You want to move beyond the way you currently shoot and unlock a whole new approach to using natural light.
You want to spend time with other like-minded women who may offer you friendship and community in an often lonely job.
Don’t just take my word for it…

Learning from Sarah was such a treat; her talent, experience and way with clients are second-to-none, and to get to learn from her was invaluable. Since Sarah’s workshop, I have set up my own studio space and have carried her teachings with me throughout.
Malika Jane, palm springs
Where do I begin...It was everything we all hoped for and more. It was a true reflection of how shoots go, and I learned so much. Sarah’s studio is so beautiful and such a welcoming space. Sarah is so down-to-earth and unbelievably talented at what she does.
Naomi Holligan, London
Sarah has the most amazing way with people and this translates just so effortlessly into her mentoring days. After spending the day at her Maternity workshop in her own studio, I couldn't think of anything I wanted more than to have her come to my own studio.

You might say that my business is made of two halves. I first spent 10 years as a freelance Fashion Stylist and then after turning 30, turned my hand back to photography (after studying at University). This experience in the fashion industry is one that I draw on all the time in my work today.
I’ve been capturing clients in a studio environment and in their home for over 10 years and have learnt a lot by trial and error along the way. By training with me, you can fast track those mistakes and get straight to the good bits.
I truly believe that a diverse and curated portfolio goes a long way in attracting new clients and expanding your reach.
Frequently Asked Questions

It’s ok if you don’t yet have a business set up, but it’s going to be most beneficial to you if you already have an understanding of how to use your own camera. Whilst there is a strong educational element to this work shop, it will be a more valuable experience to you, if you are confident in the basics.
-
Yes, absolutely. Gaining a better understanding of natural light will be beneficial in many ways, especially for shooting in-home or shooting on location, but also outdoors.
-
Absolutely! I want you to come away with images that you are proud of and can use to help grow your work and perhaps even gain new clients. And remember, you can edit your images the same way you would at home - so if you always shoot natural light, use the same presets and editing techniques and the images should fit well into your current portfolio!

Once you’re booked in, you’ll receive an email with lots of useful info about planning your trip. The location is probably best reached by car, and there is lots of parking available on site. If you do need to come by train, the closest station is some distance and would require a taxi.
